So as not to clog up the fall meet threads - there seems to be some interest in August. I am tentatively planning August 6-7-8. 8/8/08! My twin cousins may go since their birthday is Aug. 7. Just One Drink JoAnn might go.

Anyone else there then or want to be? If cousins go, I can't meet every night, and I don't want to be arranging a bunch of plans, but we ought to at least play craps. And there will be dancing

Joan and I have been planning 8/8/08 since last summer. We will be there. Our dates are August 6-10 and we are staying at Paris.

Hmm...I could possibly be in, however as you should know from the 7/7/7 meet, just because I'm there, it doesn't mean I'll make it outside into the blazing heat . I'll have to see how the next 6 weeks treat me...

My birthday is early August so I have been during that time many times and the heat is, I don't know, not really that much hotter than where I live. I do know one trip we encountered very brief thundershowers. I say all of you who are on the fence due to heat should just suck it up and give it a shot! Mike we could plan a meet very very late in the evening/wee hours of the morning in a heavily air conditioned location!

Pea & Tam - Are you guys for sure going to be the 8/8/08? Tam you'll be at Paris? Where are you stayng Pea?

I'm considering going. One minute it's yes, then the next minute I change my mind. I just need to unwind for a few days. Having a trip to plan for might help me get back on course.

I was thinking about it, but the airfare has more than doubled what I paid to go in April.

I booked at Harrah's, but I'm not for sure at all, Kathy. I was diddling around with air & it was pretty pricey, so I suspect cousins found the same thing. Have not heard back from them, and Jo Ann would rather go in the fall, and Dave wants to go in the fall. For the heck of it I tried FF miles and got nothing for August, but did for October.

Pea the airlines are not going to lower their prices, it will only get worse.
I goofed around and plug in the same dates in Aug and Oct for United, American, and Southwest from Chicago to Vegas. They are all high and I didn't include "the baggage fee".

For Southwest Tucson to Vegas, it's now $20 higher in October. By tomorrow it could be $40.00 higher.

I think airfare will become a real issue with some gangers.

Anyway if we are going to the fall meet, maybe we should book the fare or it could double by October.

There are some "web only fares" on Southwest from Houston if you went maybe the 6th, returning on the 9th.

For October they are still showing "Web only" for $119 each way, which is really good from Houston.

Kathy, I am for sure going August 6-9. We will definitely be staying at Paris!

Marc, can't go for 8-8-8, but we're booked for the fall meat - Oct. 22-25. I'll be in College Station July30-Aug. 1, Denver, Aug. 6-9 and it's looking like San Francisco from there till the 12th.

Well I booked a trip for August. Arriving early 8/8 - leaving 8/12. Spending 2 nights at the Venetian, 2 nights at The Orleans.
Hopefully planning a trip will help me out of the doldrums.
