I saw in another thread you were slated to play a bunch of tourneys the next week or so. How did you do? Was it the place Brian spoke of and you just kept driving down the interstate? laugh.gif

Tonight was TOTALLY spontaneous... my neighbors down the street. WASTED drunk.

$75 buy in NL hold em tourney

Played REALLY better then usual. Brian and Bobster know, I tend to bet crazy and win or die soon. Made it half way through the filed of 18 and got KK. Flop was Q-x-x and bet big. Called. Next card was shit. No flush or staight draws.... I go all in. Call. Turns up AA.

FOR FUCKS SAKE! Why does this happen to me? I get KK and someone gets AA??? GEE ZUS! He barely had me covered and I was chip leader. he went on to win.

I played cash games anbd drunk myself silly....walking distance! biggrin.gif

Kel is away for 4 days now - single parent!

Next poker game is Thursday, Brian should be there. 2 days later BIG tourney 80 buy in 60 players. Cant wait!

Drunk..tired,,,

night night

Thanks for the update!

That frickin' bites. The ONLY hand that could have beat you...what are the chances (Watchdog?)? I usually get screwed with AK. I've also lost having an identical pair to another person and them hitting a flush. Go figure!

Let me know how you do on your run. I haven't played any hold em for a while since working from home.

Thanks man!

I'll assume 6 were at Zukes table (just throwing out a guess)..

52 card deck, you know 2 cards. That leaves 50 unknown cards.

2 card combinations from 50 cards, C(50,2) = 1225
AA combinations = 6

Chances of any 1 opponent having AA = 6/1225 = .49% or 203 to 1 against. Note that the odds already change because we are only dealing with 50 unknown cards rather than 52.

5 opponents, so we multiply by 5 and get a figure of about 2.45% This will be very close to the correct answer, but we have to subtract the times that 2 people have AA to get the exact answer to the question "if you have KK how often will at least 1 opponent have AA (in a 6 handed game)?"

AAAA is 1 combination of 4 cards.
50 cards so C(50,4) = 230300
5 opponents, you need 2 for a 4 card combination, so C(5,2) = 10

That gives (1/230300) * 10 or 1/23030. The final, exact, answer is:

6/1225 * 5 - 1/23030 = 0.0244463743, or about 2.4%, which is odds of 39.9 to 1 against or roughly 1/41.

Many will read this and say "WTF, 1/41, that is way off"..NOPE, seems like it should be, but the math doesnt lie

I prefer cash games to tounries anyway. More poker skill involved, and as Zuke mention something like KK vs AA doesnt ruin your night.

I will be there Thursday Zuke and I will be there Saturday too. If I can get in.
