Mikey aka Blacklabber
there's a big rhubarb on a horseracing site i visit.

a guy that lives in henderson has a phone bet account with the red rock book.

he said he hit a dime super that paid him $2700, but before he could get the money
deposited to his account, he had to go sign the w2-g.

i have a couple of online accounts and a phone bet account.
when i signed up for each of them i had to fill out the W-9 form for them to have on file in case i made a hit
never had to go and sign for it. in fact i hit a tax ticket at hollywood saturday and my winnings were
in my account minutes after the official sign went on.

maybe nevada is different. any of you locals have a phone account and can let me know if that's the way it works there?

Mike, I don't have a telephone account at the sports book but I can say that Station Casinos tax department is a mess. I've had two contest wins at GVR that were in the range of $1,500 each. I had to sign for the money. I was fully expecting a 1099 for them but never got them. I called and spoke to an accountant in their tax department and 1099's were never issued according to them. I claimed the wins as other gambling wins cuz I ain't trusting them and didn't want the IRS auditing me.

They have rules regarding taxable wins on slots that no other casino has. At any casino other than Stations, once you hit one taxable you don't have to produce ID's to substantiate all of your info, ie. SSN. A driver's license is sufficient. At Station's they want all the info each time a taxable is hit.

YMMV
