Anybody see it? What did you think?

I read both books, and to be honest I liked A&D better than The DaVinci Code.

Anyway Terry and I went to see it today. Loved it. It was fast paced and I think they did a pretty fair job of following the novel. Some things had to be changed / left out, that's just the way it is. I was quite surprised at how fairly the church was treated in the movie. I recall the furor leading up to the release where the Catholic Church was complaining, but I didn't hear anything afterwards.

There were a couple of places where, already knowing they weren't allowed to film in Vatican City, I could see how they compensated for that. Didn't detract from the film though.

I'd give it a thumbs up!

Bryan and I saw it and loved it. Bryan read both books and he liked Angels and Demons better than The DaVinci Code also. I did not read either book, but I liked Angels and Demons better than The DaVinci Code better in film version. Bryan liked the film better than TDC also. I've been to Rome and toured Vatacan City and gone underneath to the catacombs and been to the Sistene Chapel and everywhere else and I swear, it all looked like the real thing to me. I think they did a great job, and I also think that Ron Howard is a GREAT Director. I would reccommend this movie to anyone. Good Stuff!!

You know what Kevin, they did a great job on the Sistine chapel! I read that they sent in teams of folks dressed like tourists to photograph every inch in order to reproduce it on a set. The vatican caught on and tossed them! laugh.gif Even so, the scenes in the Sistine chapel looked pretty authentic to me, (well except for the burning of the ballots, there's an area near the door where they do that with separate handles for black and white smoke).

It was more the large scenes of St. Peter's Square and the front of the Basillica. But you know what, that's just knit picking on my part. If I hadn't been there, (isn't Vatican City the coolest place!), I probably wouldn't have noticed.

I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of Ron Howard. There's a pretty interesting interview in this months AARP magazine, which I know you're not nearly old enough to get. rofl5.gif

Someday we'll have to swap stories of our tours. Sounds like you had a great one, and to this day, I can't believe the tour I got to have.
