When I was in Vegas a few weeks ago one of the floor cashiers told me that the IRS was no longer scooping their 30% off jackpots. He said it appiled not only to US citizens but also Canadians as long as proper id was supplied. I was surprised at this change but didn't win anything larger enough to see if it was true. Can anyone shed some light on this question ?

Since I never win any, I have no idea. Maybe the Las Vegas Advisor could help. What happened to the question of the day Native?

Sorry.
Been slammed lately. We're a man down.
Believe it or not, I may have to go to Texas for a week to train a new guy.

they only take their pound of flesh if you fail to provide a social security number or if you request a withholding

Sorry to hear that. Not that you are a man down, that you may have to go to Texas.

Chmie, I certainly hope that's true. It has never seemed fair that the Brits didn't get dinged but we do. I have a tax slip from last year, they took 600.00 off me.
Native, you like guns and big trucks, you'll be right at home.

Did you fillout a US tax return and get it back ?

I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm a big time procrastinator. Maybe soon, I haven' t even done my real taxes yet.
